Remembering Two Great Teachers

Two great dispensational seminary teachers entered the presence of the Lord this past week—Dr. Stanley Toussaint and Dr. Robert Thomas. Dr. Toussaint went to be with Christ on Tuesday morning. He served at Dallas Theological Seminary from 1960 to 2012. On Wednesday morning, Dr. Thomas went to heaven. He served at The Master's Seminary from its founding in 1987 until 2008, having previously taught for 28 years at Talbot Theological Seminary. I never had the privilege of meeting either of these men personally [...]

A Dispensational Discourse with Dr. Robert Lightner

By PAUL J. SCHARF, M.Div. Editor in Chief Editor’s Note: One of the wonderful privileges that I have in my role with Dispensational Publishing House is the opportunity to interact with great Bible teachers, pastors and other authors. One such man is Dr. Robert Lightner. I have heard of him for many years, as he was a seminary professor to my own teachers, and I was also acquainted with the wealth of his written materials. We share a common heritage in the General [...]

Concluding Thoughts & Resources for Further Study

(Read Part 7) Editor’s Note: For the conclusion to this blog series—Dispensationalism 101—I interviewed Dr. Parker Reardon and asked him to expand on his views on dispensationalism, as well as on the “Resources for Further Study” that he includes at the bottom of this final article. He shared a number of interesting thoughts, and we also discussed our plan to expand this series into a more substantial resource to be published by Dispensational Publishing House. Be watching for that—and hopefully for more material [...]

Dispensational Distinctives Delineated

(Read Part 6) It is readily known that Plymouth Brethren minister John Nelson Darby is credited with the systematizing of dispensational thought in the 1800s. Yet some history scholars trace the teachings back another century.[1] Though there is variation of beliefs within the dispensational camp, some of the major components that characterize it are: A consistently literal interpretation of Scripture, particularly in prophetic passages where God has made promises to Israel. A distinction between God’s plan for Israel and His plan for [...]

Chafer Theological Seminary: An Interview with the New President—Dr. Andy Woods

Editor’s Note: I first heard the name Andy Woods about 10 years ago, when he was interviewed on a CD by the late Dr. Mal Couch. I immediately sensed that we saw the world through the same lenses, and began listening to his material every time I came across it. What a privilege it is now, therefore, to work directly with Andy through Dispensational Publishing House and to be the first to present a major interview article about his brand new role [...]

Issues of Contention: Part 2—Soteriology

(Read Part 3) Publisher's Note: What follows from Dr. Parker Reardon is one common view of soteriology among dispensational teachers. Dispensational Publishing House presents the various views in an effort to develop healthy debate and thinking. Our founder is non-Calvinistic and an adherent of Free Grace theology, but also teaches that we should "question the assumptions" of all our beliefs. We have printed articles from both a Calvinistic and Lordship salvation perspective as well as a non-Calvinistic, Free Grace perspective. It is in the [...]

An Interview on Bible Prophecy with Dr. Charles Dyer

Editor’s Note: Dr. Charles Dyer is an author, Bible teacher, pastor, radio host and tour guide. His latest book has just come off the press from Dispensational Publishing House, called Future Babylon: The Biblical Arguments for the Rebuilding of Babylon. Dyer was previously featured in our regular interview series called A Dispensational Discourse. In this Prophetic Principles article, we explore several key areas in greater depth, and he also describes how he originally became fascinated with the Biblical subject of Babylon—on which he is one of [...]
