Remembering Two Great Teachers

Two great dispensational seminary teachers entered the presence of the Lord this past week—Dr. Stanley Toussaint and Dr. Robert Thomas. Dr. Toussaint went to be with Christ on Tuesday morning. He served at Dallas Theological Seminary from 1960 to 2012. On Wednesday morning, Dr. Thomas went to heaven. He served at The Master's Seminary from its founding in 1987 until 2008, having previously taught for 28 years at Talbot Theological Seminary. I never had the privilege of meeting either of these men personally [...]

A Dispensational Discourse with Dr. Paul Martin Henebury

By PAUL J. SCHARF, M.Div. Editor in Chief Editor’s Note: Dr. Paul Martin Henebury describes himself as “both an adherent and dismayed critic” of dispensationalism. If you do not know what he means by that, you should take the time to learn. There is much more to his understanding of these issues than we will be able to present in this article, but we hope to provide additional avenues for Paul to explain his views in the future—so stay tuned. Paul is [...]

A Dispensational Discourse with Dr. Robert Lightner

By PAUL J. SCHARF, M.Div. Editor in Chief Editor’s Note: One of the wonderful privileges that I have in my role with Dispensational Publishing House is the opportunity to interact with great Bible teachers, pastors and other authors. One such man is Dr. Robert Lightner. I have heard of him for many years, as he was a seminary professor to my own teachers, and I was also acquainted with the wealth of his written materials. We share a common heritage in the General [...]

Returning to My Ministry Roots

Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it. (Col. 4:17) The last two years have been a time of returning to my ministry roots—in the IFCA International.[1] Back in the summer of 2015 (shortly before I first heard of the idea of Dispensational Publishing House), I was invited to speak at the Wisconsin IFCA Regional in October of that year, where I delivered five messages on the book of Daniel, applying the prophet’s [...]

Concluding Thoughts & Resources for Further Study

(Read Part 7) Editor’s Note: For the conclusion to this blog series—Dispensationalism 101—I interviewed Dr. Parker Reardon and asked him to expand on his views on dispensationalism, as well as on the “Resources for Further Study” that he includes at the bottom of this final article. He shared a number of interesting thoughts, and we also discussed our plan to expand this series into a more substantial resource to be published by Dispensational Publishing House. Be watching for that—and hopefully for more material [...]

Help in ‘Making Sense of God’s Plan for Humanity’

Having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him. (Eph. 1:9-10) The Story Behind the Book Almost 25 years ago I gave a message in a former church entitled “World History in Seven Acts.” The essence of the message was an overview [...]

The Authority of the Word of God

Editor's Note: Today we conclude four days of remembrance of Dr. Charles C. Ryrie, who died last Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016. In accord with Ken Ham's testimony below, we can say that Dr. Ryrie's life was a powerful reminder of "the authority of the Word of God"—a very appropriate title for today's final installment. What a joy it has been to take this time to think about all that we have learned from Dr. Ryrie, as well as to hear the perspectives [...]

Devotion for Christ

Editor's Note: We continue to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Charles C. Ryrie. The Lord called Dr. Ryrie home to Heaven on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016. His influence will continue to be felt, however, through the lives of men that he discipled, including Dr. Thomas Ice, who offers his tribute below. In the photo below left, Dr. Ice presents Dr. Ryrie with the Pre-Trib Research Center's "John F. Walvoord Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Prophetic Studies" at the 24th Annual [...]

The Brilliant Scholar

Editor's Note: This is our second day of honoring Dr. Charles Ryrie, who was promoted to heavenly glory on Tuesday of this week, just short of his 91st birthday. If you missed our first day of tributes, make sure to read them. They are entitled, "An Incredible Legacy." Today we find that, as Dr. LaHaye states so aptly below, Dr. Ryrie was indeed "the brilliant scholar." He taught many of our teachers, and all of us freely quoted his words with certainty [...]

An Incredible Legacy

On Tuesday, February 16, 2016, Dr. Charles C. Ryrie was ushered into Heaven, into the presence of the Savior he dearly loved. Dr. Ryrie, perhaps more than any other modern figure, was the face of dispensationalism for modern times. Having written more than 50 books, the Ryrie name will forever stand as a good name, and a testimony to literal, historical, grammatical interpretation of God's holy Word. Over the next few days, Dispensational Publishing House will honor this incredible legacy by sharing testimonies [...]
