The book of Hebrews is kept at arm’s length by many Christians. They look at the book with intrigue but also fear. What is one to do with the warning passages that seem to teach that we can lose our salvation, for example? In this volume, Dr. Paul Benware walks the student through the entire book, not getting caught in endless word studies and Old Testament paths, but helping the student to get a clear understanding of the theme of the book, and how this theme becomes a key truth for the Christian walk. Those who hold the book at arm’s length may come to embrace it for a lifetime of joy and study after coming to an “Understanding of the Book of Hebrews.“
Dr. Paul Benware is the author of 10 books. He spent 25 years on the faculty of the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. He also taught at Los Angeles Baptist College, Philadelphia Biblical University, and Arizona Christian University. During his years of teaching in the college classroom, he has been involved in several local churches, often holding pastoral or staff positions. This local church involvement reflects his conviction that the local church is primary in doing Christ’s work in the world today. Dr. Benware is currently involved in Bible conferences, teaching in local churches, writing and teaching a modular course in Bible colleges. He holds the B.A. degree from the Los Angeles Baptist College, Th.M. degree from Dallas Theological Seminary and a Th.D. degree from Grace Theological Seminary. Dr. Benware lives with his wife Anne in Litchfield Park, Arizona. They have four children and seven grandchildren.
